SUZY BENZINGER (Costume Designer). Woody Allen's film, Celebrity, marks Ms. Benzinger's third appearance as Costume Designer for Woody Allen, the others being Deconstructing Harry and Don't Drink the Water. She is currently represented on Broadway by Miss Saigon with subsequent productions in Japan, Toronto, and two national touring companies. Off-Broadway she recently designed Boys in the Band for the WPA, which later transferred to the Lucille Lortel, as well as the revival of I Do! I Do! and the world premiere of Mirette, another Jones/Schmidt musical at Goodspeed Opera House. Suzy began her career in Buffalo, New York, where she assisted many top theatrical costume designers. Subsequently, she moved to New York where she began a nine-year association with designer Theoni V. Aldredge contributing to the designs of the films Ghostbusters, Moonstruck, Stanley & Iris, We're No Angels, and Annie, in addition to numerous Broadway musicals including 42nd Street, Dreamgirls, La Cage Aux Folles, Woman of the Year, and Gypsy. Independently, she has also designed the films Club Paradise and Walking the Dog; PBS' AIDS Benefit from the Metropolitan Opera; the world premiere of Miguel Pinero's Playland Blues, the Latino Festival of One Acts, as well as regional productions of The Runner Stumbles, Cabaret and many other musicals. She has also designed costumes for Whitney Houston, Elton John, Gloria Estefan, Paula Abdul and others for Steve Horn, Inc.
