LORETTA GRECO is the Producing Artistic Director of Women’s Project and Productions, a 26 year old New York institution devoted to cultivating and producing women theater artists. She has developed new work for the theater with such playwrights as Emily Mann, Ruben Santiago Hudson, Tracey Scott Wilson, Joyce Carol Oates, Jessica Hagedorn, Octavio Solis, Cusi Cram, Regina Taylor, Stephen Wadsworth, and Nilo Cruz, among others. As a director, her New York premieres include: The Story (Joseph Papp Public Theater), Touch (Women’s Project), Meshugah (Naked Angels), Lackawanna Blues (Joseph Papp Public Theater), Gum (Women’s Project), Two Sisters and a Piano (Joseph Papp Public Theater), Mercy (Vineyard), Under a Western Sky (INTAR/Women’s Project), A Park in Our House (New York Theater Workshop) and Salt (Actors Studio). Regionally her credits include Romeo and Juliet and Stop Kiss (Oregon Shakespeare Festival), Gross Indecency (Playmakers Rep) in addition to productions at ACT, Intiman, Williamstown, La Jolla Playhouse, McCarter, Long Wharf, South Coast Rep, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, St Louis Rep, Coconut Grove Playhouse, and Cleveland Play House. Ms Greco directed the national tour of Emily Mann’s Having Our Say, as well as its international premiere at the Market Theatre, Johannesburg, South Africa. She is the author of Passage: Stories of the Cuban Balseros which received its premiere at Area Stage in Miami where it extended for over six months before transferring to the Coconut Grove Playhouse. Ms Greco is the recipient of two Drama League fellowships and the Princess Grace Award and holds an MFA from Catholic University.
