Lindsay Law
LINDSAY LAW's producing career began with PBS's Theater In America series, which adapted for TV many important works from regional theaters. In 1981 he was a founding partner of the PBS series American Playhouse. Serving as executive producer and then president, the company made 40 films including El Norte, Longtime Companion, The Thin Blue Line, Stand and Deliver, I Shot Andy Warhol, Angels and Insects, Smooth Talk, Ethan Frome, and Testament. The series brought to TV plays by Richard Nelson, Jon Robin Baitz, John Guare, Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams, Terrence McNally, Ntzake Shange, Robert Anderson, Peter Parnell, Tina Howe, Eugene O'Neill, Anna Devere Smith, Richard Greenberg, Lanford Wilson, Clifford Odets, Craig Lucas, Sam Shepard and Thorton Wilder and three musicals by Sondheim/Lapine. In 1995, Law became President of Fox Searchlight Pictures. In his four years there, the company produced and distributed more than 30 films, including The Full Monty.
