Kerry Butler
KERRY BUTLER was born in Brooklyn, New York. Her acting career began at age three when she started doing commercials. She had a brief hiatus from performing between the ages of five and nine, when her mother wanted her to have a "normal" childhood. After much begging her mother let her return to acting and she has been doing it ever since. She's plugged everything from Tampons (with the rounded tip plastic applicators) to Checkermint Bubbleyum. While she was in school, she also had small parts on a few television shows - Hometown, Another World, and Sesame Street. Once Kerry finished school, she landed bigger parts... On stage, Kerry has enjoyed long runs on Broadway as Belle in Beauty and the Beast (a role she created for the Toronto production), Eponine in Les Miserables and Ms. Jones in Blood Brothers. Other New York roles include Vicki in the workshop of Bright Lights, Big City at N.Y.T.W., Barrow in The"I" Word at Ensemble Studio Theatre and Claudia in The Folsom Head at the Currican Theatre. Off-Broadway, Kerry enjoyed her role as Shelley Parker in Bat Boy The Musical and also the Australian import Prodigal. Kerry created the role of Penny Pingleton in the Tony Award-winning musical Hairspray and later that season she was seen as Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors. Kerry also created the role of DeDe Truitt in The Opposite of Sex in San Francisco and reprised the role at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.. She was was seen at the Vineyard Theatre in Miracle Brothers and is currently starring in Xanadu on Broadway as Kira. On television, she appeared as Heather on ABC's One Life To Live. Kerry also voiced the title character in Princess Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders. She also appeared in the CBS Television movie with Roma Downey entitled Second Honeymoon. On film, Kerry appeared in the horror movie Campfire Stories and also in the independent film, Borough of Kings. Kerry's voice can be heard on numerous radio spots as well as on the Bat Boy, Hairspray and New Broadway Cast of Little Shop of Horrors recordings. She will soon be heard on Anna Karenina.
