ENID ROTH, retired trail-blazing Emmy Award winning NBC Producer/Director, was invited by former ATW president Roy Somlyo to consult on the Working in the Theatre seminars, Guide to Careers in the Theatre and other TV projects. They had worked together for 20 years when Enid was Associate Director and 2nd Unit Director on 17 Tony Awards broadcasts and other productions. Enid studied acting at Syracuse University with the legendary Sawyer Falk and after graduation came to NY and worked briefly for CBS as a secretary before moving to NBC. She quickly became a staff Associate Director working on dramatic specials such as The Price with George C. Scott and Colleen Dewhurst, Harvey with Helen Hayes and Jimmy Stewart and music specials with (to name a few) Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Carol Burnett, Dick Van Dyke, an original Jule Styne TV musical, the Bell Telephone Hour, three years on the Perry Como Show and Hullabaloo. She also directed coverage of space shots, conventions, other major news events and was the first woman to be director of a nightly news program on a major market TV station. Enid was elected to the National Board of the Directors Guild of America later becoming the first woman to be a Vice-President of that organization.
