Eduardo Machado
EDUARDO MACHADO became the Artistic Director of INTAR Theatre in July 2004. He is the author of over 27 plays, including The Cook, which enjoyed its world premiere at INTAR in November 2003. Machado serves as Head of the Columbia University Graduate Playwriting Department and has taught playwriting at The Public Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, Sarah Lawrence College and The Playwrights Center. He has served as an Artistic Associate at The Public, the Taper and the Flea Theatre/Bat Theatre Company and served as Artistic Director of the Cherry Lane Alternative. His plays include Havana is Waiting, The Floating Island Plays, Cuba, Night, Stevie Wants to Play the Blues, Rosario and the Gypsies, Across a Crowded Room, and Don Juan in New York City. His plays have been produced at Actors Theatre of Louisville, the Mark Taper Forum, the Long Wharf Theatre, Hampstead Theatre in London, American Place Theatre, Repertorio Espanol, among many others. Machado has served on the boards of TCG, New Dramatists and Theatre for the New City. He has received grants from the NEA, the Berrilla Kerr Foundation, TCG, Pew Charitable Trusts, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. His plays have been published by the Theatre Communications Group.
