BRIAN d'ARCY JAMES will be starring in the title role of Dreamworks Theatricals Broadway production of Shrek in December 2008. He will soon be appearing along with Jim Norton and John Gallagher Jr. in Conor McPherson's Port Authority at the Atlantic Theater. He received a Tony nomination and Drama Desk nomination for his portrayal of Sidney Falco in the Broadway production of Sweet Smell of Success in which he co-starred with John Lithgow. Brian most recently appeared in Next to Normal at Second Stage Theater. His most recent Broadway appearance was starring in the Roundabout Theater's Broadway production of The Apple Tree with Kristen Chenoweth. Other recent Broadway credits include the starring role of Freddy Benson in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and originating the role of Brendan in The Lieutenant of Inishmore by Martin McDonagh. Other Broadway credits include Titanic; Carousel; Blood Brothers; Les Miserables (national tour). Brian's solo performance in The Keen Company's production of The Good Thief by Conor McPherson garnered him an OBIE Award as well as a Drama Desk nomination, Outer Critics Circle Nomination, Backstage Garland Award, and LA Weekly Award. Additional Off Broadway credits include The Lieutenant of Inishmore (Atlantic); The Pavilion (Rattlestick); Flight (Melting Pot); a star turn in the City Center Encores production of Pardon My English; Manhattan Theater Club's The Wild Party (Drama Desk Nomination); Ancestral Voices (LCT); Public Enemy (Irish Arts); Floyd Collins (Playwright's Horizons); Irving Berlin's White Christmas (Boston, San Francisco and Los Angeles companies). Additionally, Brian has extensive regional theater credits: Things Being What They Are (Bay Street); Follies (Seattle/Houston); Chess (Alliance) to name a few.
