Barry Kohn
BARRY KOHN is an Allergist Immunologist who left private practice medicine in 1995 and moved to Manhattan to found Physician Volunteers for the Arts, a not-for-profit organization providing free medical care for the performing arts community in New York and Los Angeles. Charles Busch based his play, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, on Barry and his wife, Brina. Barry attended Cornell University, The University of Pennsylvania Medical School, and Harvard. Barry served from 1988?1995 as trustee of the Sacramento Theatre Company, a not-for-profit professional theatre; from 1993?1995 he served as Board President. Barry served as a Trustee of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation from 1995 to 1999, and as a member of the Board of Trustees of Off- Broadway's Drama Dept., from 1997?2001. Barry served as a Trustee for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS from 1998-2004. As Medical Director of Physician Volunteers for the Arts, Barry has been providing free flu shots to the entire Broadway community annually. This program begins its 10th year this fall.
