Anna Manahan
ANNA MANAHAN studied under Ria Mooney at Gaiety School of Acting. Played with Edwards/MacLiammoir Company at Gate Theatre, Phyllis Ryan and Gemini Productions and all major Irish companies. John B. Keane wrote Big Maggie for her. Highlights include The Rose Tattoo, Moon for the Misbegotten, Bloomsday (Molly Bloom), Entertaining Mr. Sloane, The Killing of Sister George, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Gingerbread Lady, Lovers (also London and Broadway - Tony nomination). London: Two years with National Theatre (including Bessie in The Plough and the Stars - Olivier Award nomination). Royal Court: Live Like Pigs (world premiere). Recent theatre - Druid: The Leenane Trilogy (original production of Beauty Queen and Skull in Connemara). Also London and Sydney Festival), The Loves of Cass Maguire, I Do Not Like Thee Dr. Fell. Red Kettle Company: The Crucible, An Old Lady's Guide to Survival, Happy Birthday Dear Alice, The Guernica Hotel (world premiere). Abbey: The Shaughraun. Gemini: The Matchmaker, The Taylor and Ansty. Groundwork: Dr. Fell. TV: BBC series Me Mammy. RTE: The Riordans, Leave it to Mrs. O'Brien. Channel 4: The Irish RM. Recent TV/film includes: The Bill, Lovejoy, Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. The Treaty, Blind Justice, Hear My Song, Clash of the Titans, A Man of No Importance. For Beauty Queen of Leenane, Ms. Manahan has received Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk nominations, was honored by the Drama League and won an Theatre World Award and the Tony.
