AMY DANIS formed MARS Theatricals with Mark Johannes in 1999 in order to produce theater and dance. Their first production was Swing! (Broadway and National tour) garnering 6 Tony Nominations. OffBroadway they have produced the NY premieres of Tabletop, World Of Mirth, and My Old Lady, by Israel Horovitz, (Drama Desk Nominations for all) and the developmental production of Paper Doll at Theater Previews at Duke, in NC. In London's West End, they were involved in Taboo, the Boy George musical, and The Lieutenant Of Inishmore by Martin McDonagh. Future projects include the Broadway mounting of Little Shop Of Horrors opening in August of 2003, and the Off-Broadway premiere of Bug, by Tracy Letts. Ms. Danis began her career as a dancer/actress, and was a member of The Joffrey Ballet. She was on the faculty of the Lee Strasberg Institute, teaching stage movement for actors, and continues to choreograph for ballet, opera, and theater. She is also a trustee of the board of Musical Theater Works.
